Today I'm not sewing, I'm packing. I'm sending a quilt to be photographed for a catalogue. You remember this mysterious post? Well, Ghost Plants has been selected to Artextures, an international exhibit which will tour Europe, and especially France, for two years. So now I can show it to you! I really enjoyed making this new quilt, and it's the first one of a new series.
I was starting this quilt during the Fukushima catastrophe, and I was wondering what was going to happen to nature in the years to come, therefore the title.


Aujourd'hui je ne couds pas, je fais un paquet. J'envoie un quilt qui sera photographié pour un catalogue. Vous vous souvenez de cet article mystérieux? Eh bien Ghost Plants a été sélectionné pour Artextures, une exposition internationale qui va tourner en Europe, et particulièrment en France, pendant deux ans. Alors je peux maintenant vous le montrer! J'ai eu beaucoup de plaisir à faire ce quilt, et c'est le premier d'une nouvelle série.
J'ai commencé ce quilt pendant la catastrophe de Fukushima, et je me suis demandé ce que deviendrait la nature à long terme, d'où le titre.

Color Workshop / Atelier couleurs

I just came back from an intensive color workshop I gave to a group of teachers in textile. I brought my suitcase, containing more than 1000 fabrics that I spread on 7 tables. The participants chose from the stacks to fulfill the "assignements": transparencies, color suites, color wheel discoveries, inspiration, etc.


Je reviens d'un stage intensif sur la couleur que je viens de donner à un groupe d'enseignantes textiles. J'avais apporté ma valise contenant plus de 1000 tissus que j'ai étalés sur 7 tables. Les participants choisissent parmi les tissus de quoi mener à bien les "devoirs": transparences, dégradés, propriétés de la roue des couleurs, inspiration, etc.

Yesterday I brought home my grandmother's first and only electrical sewing machine. I remember watching her as I was a little kid, as she was pedaling on a very old foot powered one.
Isn't it cute? That brings the number of sewing machines I own to .... well, top secret!


Hier j'ai ramené à la maison la première et seule machine à coudre électrique de ma grand-mère. Je me souviens que quand j'étais très jeune, elle pédalait sur une très vieille machine à pédale.
Elle est chou, non? Cela monte le nombre de machines à coudre que je possède à ... euh, top secret!

There will also be an incredible exhibit, featuring most of the artists starting at the International Quilt Festival Houston (November 3-6 2011) and will then travel around the world. The exhibit will be in Birmingham's Festival of Quilts in 2012.

Il y aura aussi une incroyable exposition montrant la plupart des artistes, qui commencera au International Quilt Festival à Houston ( 3-6 Novembre) et qui voyagera ensuite dans le monde entier. L'exposition sera à Birmingham au Festival of Quilts en 2012.
