New quilt

You remember seeing this quilt in the making?. I want to share another quilt with you, in the same series of reverse appliqué quilts, called "Spring". I'm enjoying this new series, and I have no idea where it will lead me. 
I have a few series I'm working on in parallel, and I like to jump from one to the other. I just can't stop a series if I feel I'm not finished with it, even though I have started a new one, based on a different kind of inspiration.

Vous vous souvenez de ce quilt en préparation? J'aimerais partager avec vous un autre quilt dans cette même série de quilt en appliqué inversé, appelé "Spring". J'aime beaucoup cette nouvelle série, et je n'ai aucune idée où elle va me mener. 
J'ai quelques séries de quilts sur lesquelles je travaille en parallèle, et j'apprécie de sauter de l'une à l'autre. Je ne peux tout simplement pas arrêter une série si je sens que je n'en ai pas fini avec elle, même si j'en ai commencé une nouvelle, basée sur une autre source d'inspiration.

Unusual color!

This year in my garden, I have some incredible cosmos: They are burgundy, but they are so dark that I had to change the picture in Photoshop to show you the red undercurrent! Wonderful! I'll try and save some seeds!

Cette année dans mon jardin, j'ai des cosmos incroyables: Ils sont bordeaux, mais ils sont si foncés, que j'ai du changer la photo dans Photoshop pour vous montrer la nuance rouge sous-jacente. Magnifique! Je vais essayer de récolter quelques graines!

Here is a quilt seen at The Festival of Quilts which was catching the eye and was admired by many viewers! The spontaneous feeling and great handwork make it a standing out quilt. The author, Jackie Smith, from Hertford, says she was inspired by the grand children's drawings when they were young. 
Hand and machine appliqué, using recycled fabrics.

Voici un quilt vu au Festival of Quilts qui attirait l'oeil et qui était admiré par de nombreux visiteurs. Le sentiment de spontanéité et le beau travail à la main en font un quilt qui sort du lot. L'auteur, Jackie Smith, de Hertford, dit qu'elle s'est inspirée des dessins de ses petits enfants quand ils étaient petits.
Appliqué à la main et à la machine, tissus usagés.

Making an Impression

Yeh! Another book has arrived. A long awaited book: Making an Impression: Designing & Creating Artful Stamps, by Geninne D. Zlatkis, an  American illustrator living in Mexico. I've been following Genine's Art Blog for years, and since she talked about writing a book on carving stamps, I've been eagerly waiting for the book to come out. And it just did, and it's already one of my favorite book this year!
Seeing the beautiful pictures, it looks so easy! There are instructions for paper and fabric printing. The book is full of projects, ideas and models in the Geninne spirit, so refined and spontaneous! I highly recommend it!

Yep! Un autre livre a rejoint ma bibliothèque! Un livre attendu depuis longtemps: Making an Impression: Designing & Creating Artful Stamps, par Geninne D. Zlatkis, une illustratrice américaine vivant au Mexique. Je suis son blog depuis des années, et depuis qu'elle a parlé d'écrire un livre sur la fabrication de tampons, j'attends avec impatience la sortie du livre. Et il vient de sortir, et c'est déjà un de mes livres préférés cette année!
En regardant les magnifiques photos, ça a l'air facile. Il y a des instructions pour l'impression sur papier et sur tissu. Le livre est plein de projets, d'idées, et de modèles dans l'esprit Geninne, si raffiné et si spontané. Je le recommande absolument!
