Here is how to make a lovely patchwork square to hang as decoration.

Make two small patchwork squares with scraps of fabric. Cut 4 stripes, as long as the side of your square, 3cm wide (or 1inch).
Réalisez deux petits carrés de patchwork avec des restes de tissu. Coupez également 4 bandes de la même longueur que le côté de votre carré, de 3cm (ou 1 inch) de large.
Sew the 4 stripes to the sides of one square, starting and stopping at a presser foot width at the beginning and the end of the stripe, so the ends stay free to move. See below.

Add the other square, always keeping the first and last bit of seam open. Do that to all the seams.

Start going 3D with the square, pinning and sewing one seam at a time.

At one point, pin a folded ribbon (can be thinner than this example!) to one of the short side.

Leave an opening in the middle of one of the long side, after having sewn only the corners. Once you have sewn all the seams, turn the bag over and fill it with batting.

Sew the last seam by hand

Add a ribbon and two buttons in the middle of the square. If you make the square thicker, it can become a nice pin cushion!
