Log Cabin Quilt with magic Trim Tool

I wrote here about this year's Christmas gift quilt, made with a magic ruler... It was fast, it was fun!

So here's the finished quilt, using all kind of scraps of fabrics and stripes. Didn't diminish my stash much though! I have to make another one at least to see the difference!

J'ai écrit ici à propos du quilt cadeau de Noël de cette année, fait avec un carré magique... C'était rapide, c'était amusant! Alors voici le quilt terminé, utilisant toutes sortes de restes de tissus et de bandes. Cela n'a pas vraiment diminué ma pile, il faudra que j'en fasse au moins un autre pour remarquer la différence!

I machine quilted the quilt with my home sewing machine, this time using special quilting needles, and it went like a dream!!

J'ai quilté le patch à la machine avec ma machine de ménage, cette fois en utilisant des aiguilles spécial quilting, et cela s'est fait comme dans un rêve!!

Log Cabin Quilt with Magic Tool

I've just acquired this magic Log Cabin Trim Tool and I love it. Here's how it works:

- You'll use an 1/4 inch presser foot (Bernina number 37)

- You'll need left over stripes of fabrics with at least one side straight and a minimum width of 1 1/2 inch (4-4,5 cm)

- You'll start with a 2 1/2 square of fabric.

- Make a first round around the square.

Je viens d'acheter ce Log Cabin Trim Tool magique et je l'adore. Voici comment ça marche:

- Vous utiliserez un pied 1/4 inch (Bernina numéro 37)

- Vous aurez besoin de restes de bandes avec au moins un côté droit et une largeur minimum de 1 1/2 inch (4-4,5cm)

-Vous commencerez avec un carré de tissu de 2 1/2 inch.

- Faites un premier tour autour du carré.

Now take the ruler and use the first square called "Round 1", in the upper right corner, and place it on your central square. Trim your block.

Maintenant prenez votre règle et utilisez le premier carré nommé "Round 1", dans le coin supérieur droite et posez-le sur votre carré central. Ajustez votre bloc.

Add another set of stripes around your bloc and trim it this time using the second square on the ruler, named "Round 2".

Ajoutez un nouveau groupe de bandes autour du carré et ajustez le en vous basant sur le deuxième carrés sur la règle, appelé "Round 2".

Once you've completed three rounds, you can trim your block using the third square. Your blocks are ready to be sewn together!

Une fois que vous avez fait trois tours de bandes, ajustez votre bloc en utilisant le troisième carré. Vos blocs sont prêts à être cousus ensemble.

First throw on the ground of my Very Scrappy Log Cabin. I have to hurry, the quilt has to be ready for Christmas!

I've bought my square on Amazon, as I didn't find it anywhere in Europe, but I'm sure if you live in the States, you'll find one in your quilt shop. There are different sizes and styles.

Premier essai sur le sol avec les carrés de mon Log Cabin de restes. Je dois me dépêcher car le quilt doit être terminé pour Noël!

J'ai acheté ma règle sur Amazon, comme je ne la trouvais nulle part en Europe, mais je suis certaine que si vous habitez aux USA, vous en trouverez une dans votre boutique patch. Il existe différentes grandeurs et styles.

Log Cabin quilt for Christmas

Like every year, I'm making a quilt for someone in my family. This year I drew the name of a man, and decided to make a scrap Log Cabin quilt using blue green on one side, beige and grey on the other side and orange squares in the middle.

I'm making it with tons of left over stripes, using the magic tool "Log Cabin Trim Tool", making it so quick, easy and fun to make Log Cabin!! I'll show you next week how it works.

Comme chaque année, je suis en train de faire un quilt pour quelqu'un dans ma famille. Cette année J'ai tiré le nom d'un homme et j'ai décidé de faire un Log Cabin avec des restes, en utilisant du bleu-vert sur un côté, du gris beige sur l'autre côté et des carrés oranges au milieu.

Je le fais avec des tonnes de restes de bandes, en utilisant l'outil "Log Cabin Trim Tool", rendant l'opération rapide, facile et très amusante!! Je vous montrerai la semaine prochaine comment ça marche.
