Mary & Patch: sashiko

I've been using the Sashiko machine some more, and I'm very glad with the result.

I have a chronic pain in my right shoulder, and could never have done that by hand. But somehow I find it unfair for the one who do it by hand!… A doubt is about to rise!

J'ai encore utilisé la machine Sashiko, et je suis très contente du résultat.

J'ai une douleur chronique dans l'épaule droite, et je ne pourrais jamais avoir pu faire ça à la main. Mais quelque part je pense que ce n'est pas juste pour celles qui le font à la main!… Un doute va s'installer!

To cut my quilt square, I use a large, heavy, metallic woodworker's set square. It's perfect and it helps a lot. It was a good buy!

Pour couper mon quilt bien carré, j'utilise une grande et lourde équerre métallique de charpentier. C'est parfait et c'est d'une grande aide. C'était un bon achat!

I've been testing the Sashiko machine, by Baby Lock, at Tomorrow's Quilts in Colombier, where it is sold. This machine only make one kind of stitch, a real looking straight stitch, with a real space between stitches. It looks just like hand quilting!

The stitch at the back looks like a regular machine stitch. You can decide the length of the stitches and the space between stitches. It seems very easy at first, but the machine can be delicate to handle at times. It doesn't' like seam allowances! But still, I love it!!

J'ai testé la machine Sashiko, de Baby Lock, chez Tomorrow's Quilts, à Colombier, où elle est vendue. Cette machine ne fait qu'une sorte de point, un point avant très réaliste, avec un vrai espace entre les points.On dirait vraiment du quilting à la main!

Le point à l'arrière ressemble à un point machine habituel. On peut décider de la longueur des points et de l'espace entre les points. Ca a l'air facile au début, mais la machine peut se révéler délicate par moments. Elle n'aime pas les coutures! Mais néanmoins je l'adore!
