Patchwork Professional & Nadelwelt

Sometimes modesty is out of place, so I'm going to say "Yippee"! 
Indeed, the german magazine Patchwork Professional has just published four pages on my work, in the January issue, and I'm very happy! I've had this honor, because I'm going to teach and exhibit at Nadelwelt, Karlsruhe, Germany, in the coming May. 
Don't miss the event: Exhibitions, workshops, merchants, the new german quilt festival has set high standards!


Il y a des fois où la modestie est mal placée, donc je vais dire "Youpie"! 
En effet, le journal allemand Patchwork Professional, vient de publier quatre pleines pages sur mon travail dans le numéro de janvier, et je suis très contente! J'ai eu cet honneur car je vais exposer et enseigner à Nadelwelt, Karlsruhe, Allemagne, en mai prochain. 
Ne manquez pas l'événement: Expos, cours, et marchands, le nouveau festival de quilt allemand a mis la barre très haut!

Book / Livre

Perhaps you've heard the name of Françoise Tellier-Loumagne before. She has already published 3 books, one on knitting, one on embroidery and one on felt. Her books are very thick, containing hundreds of incredible pictures and full of inspiration. 
I just bought her latest, (A 1000 ways to creation), not yet published in english, and it's a delight!
(Books have been translated in german as well: Stricken, Sticken, Filzen, and the latest, Inspirationen für Textildesign)


Vous avez peut-être déjà entendu parler de Françoise Tellier-Loumagne. Elle a déjà publié 3 livres, un sur le tricot, un sur la broderie, et un sur le feutre. Ses livres sont très épais, contenant des centaines de photos incroyables et riches d'inspiration.
Je viens d'acheter son dernier livre, 1000 manières de créer, et c'est encore une réussite!

New quilt studio

Look at what my dear husband made for me! A new table for my sewing machine and ironing board! I'm so happy!
I even have room to stock plenty of fabric boxes under it (Yes I really need them, no, I don't have too much fabrics!). 
And I have a darling chest of drawers to put all the sewing machine related items, and a lot more!


Regardez ce que mon cher mari a construit pour moi! Une nouvelle table pour ma machine à coudre et ma planche à repasser! Je suis si contente!
J'ai même la place de mettre dessous des boites de tissus (Oui, j'en ai besoin, non, je n'ai pas trop de tissus!). 
Et j'ai une adorable commode pour mettre tous les accessoires de la machine à coudre et bien plus!

My table has a strange shape just behind the sewing machine. The hole allows for longer pieces to flow down the table, as my working space is quite narrow.

Ma table a une forme étrange derrière la machine à coudre. Le trou permet aux pièces plus longues de glisser derrière la table, ma place de travail étant très étroite.

Collection 4 / Janvier 2011

This is definitively my smallest collection, in size and number! January is coming to an end, and I'm storing away my little beans or Twelfth Night cake charms for a year. 
We have a tradition here, to bake a "king's cake", or rather a sweet bread, on the 6th of January, called Epiphany or King's day. Here is a recipe. In France the tradition is more for an almond paste pie like that.
The idea is to hide a charm inside the pie, and whoever gets it is the king of the day. 
My porcelain charms only come from pies that I have eaten with my family and are Santons like. 
Nowadays, most charms are plastic, or represent Walt Disney characters, so I'm not sure I'll ever be able to add to this mini collection!!


Voici vraiment ma plus petite collection, en taille et en nombre! Janvier touche à sa fin, et je range pour une année mes petites fèves du Gâteau des Rois.
Ici nous faisons traditionnellement un gâteau, ou plutôt un pain sucré, le 6 janvier, appelé Epiphanie ou Jour des Rois. Voici une recette. En France, la tradition est plus en faveur d'une galette à la frangipane comme celle-ci.
L'idée est de cacher une fève dans le gâteau, et celui qui la reçoit est le roi du jour.
Mes fèves de porcelaine ne viennent que de gâteaux mangés avec ma famille et sont du style santons. 
Maintenant, la plupart des fèves sont en plastic ou représentent des personnages de Walt Disney, donc je ne suis pas sûre de pouvoir ajouter un jour de nouvelles pièces à cette mini collection!
