How to make textile cards with tiny scraps of fabric

I've been participating on the #100dayproject with textile cards made of tiny fabric scraps. That means 100 different textile cards!
Here's how I make some of them:

Let's start with left over from cutting lots of stripes for a quilt. I just saved them, just in case!

Apart from fabric scraps, you'll need the following material: Filmoplast, batting, Vliesline S80, Decovil (thick)
I'm making my cards 10/15 cm (about 4“ / 6”). I cut all the material larger, that is 11 / 16 cm.

First take the Filmoplast (a "cold" sticking material, no ironing necessary) and peal the protective paper away as you "stick" the small stripes slightly on top of one another.

You can work vertically or horizontally, you can choose harmonious color combinations or mix all the colors.

Time to sew/quilt/decorate the surface. You'll need to make a sandwich with a piece of Vliesline S80 on top of which you'll put a piece of batting and then your Filmoplast composition.

You can embroider with decorative threads, free hand quilting, etc. Here, a narrow stripe gives me an idea. I'm going to zigzag it on my stripes background.

Once you're finished quilting you can fuse a piece of Decovil on the back of your card with the iron and protective paper for the oven.

It's only then that you cut the card at the final size.

You will then zigzag around the card with a beige thread under and a matching thread on top.
You can use the tip of a seam ripper to help the fabric stay in place while going under the presser foot.

You can also freely cut the small scraps with your rotary cutter. "Stick" them on Filmoplast.
To hold the tiny scraps in place, put a transparent fabric on top.

Your sandwich is here composed of a piece of Vliesline S80, some batting, your Filmoplast covered with fabric and a transparent fabric on top. You can then freely quilt the whole.

Once it's done, use Decovil on the back, cut the card to its definitive size and zigzag the sides.
