Suites Mystères

As you might have read, our quilting group, Neuchâtel Patchwork, is having a biannual exhibition in Neuchâtel. One part of the exhibit is an experiment that I will try to describe below:
A first person made a small quilt, 40/30cm and once completed, photocopied the whole thing. She then cut out of the photocopy the last five centimeters and gave that, with no other indication, to the next person. The follower had to make a new quilt inspired by what she saw on the five centimeters band, and make a new quilt, giving in her turn, a five centimeters band to the next one.
We did that nine times and started 4 such chains, for a total of 36 quills. The 4 "Suites Mystères" who were hung all at the same time at the opening. As everything was kept secret (nobody showed her quilt to anybody) the event was fun and appreciated!
The series are on the wall until Sunday late afternoon, if you are interested!

  2. What a creative and satisfying and beautiful project to be a part of. If i were able to see the exhibit, I would most likely be there for hours.
