Here's how to use old maps to make a soft, folding container to take with you everywhere.

Voici comment réaliser un conteneur souple, pliable, que vous pourrez prendre partout avec vous.

You'll need an old map, some medium gel (or Mod Podge), a painting brush, a cutter, some thin batting, some Vliesofix (fusible web on paper).

You also need to decide the size of your box. You'll need two bottoms and 8 sides. Make all material (map, batting, fusing material) slightly largeur than your definite size.

Vous aurez besoin de gel medium, d'un pinceau, d'un cutter, de ouatine mince, de Vliesofix (colle sur papier). Vous déciderez aussi de la taille de votre boîte. Vous aurez besoin de 2 fonds et de 8 côtés. Coupez tous vos matériaux (carte, ouatine, Vliesofix) à peine plus grand que la taille définitive.

Paint some medium gel (or Mod Podge) on one side of all the pieces of paper.

Peignez un côté de toutes les pièces de papier avec le gel medium.

Once it is dry, use the Vliesofix (fusible) to fuse a map on each side of the batting. Use a protecting paper when ironing your piece.

Une fois que tout est sec, utilisez le Vliesofix pour coller une carte de chaque côté de la ouatine. Utilisez un papier de protection quand vous repassez votre pièce.

Once the map is fused to the batting, cut all sides and bottom at the desired size.

Place the different pieces as you want them to be sewn together.

Start by sewing around all pieces at 5 mm. It will make assembling the different parts a lot easier.

Then start by sewing all sides to the bottom. You must make a small seam allowance, 5 mm maximum. Start at about 1 cm from the side, and back stitch until you are at 5 mm from the side. Sew until 5 mm from the end of the seam and back stitch again. Both ends of the seams should be free and open, on 5 mm.

At last sew the sides together, starting at the bottom by back stitching at 5 mm. Go all the way to the top of the side, and back stitch.

Commencez par coudre à 5 mm autour de toutes les pièces. Cela vous facilitera la tâche pour assembler les différentes parties.
