I made this quilt in 2002. It was created for one of our quilt guild exhibition. We had to find inspiration in a picture and make a quilt. The picture I chose, which was exhibited under the quilt, was a spiral staircase.
I remember that life was a bit complicated for me at the time, and I think the agitated surface reflects that turmoil.
I especially liked (and still do!) the border, with I made by cutting left over blocks and appliquéing them on a new surface.
J'ai réalisé ce quilt en 2002. Il a été créé pour une exposition de notre club de patchwork. Nous devions trouver l'inspiration dans une photo et faire un quilt. La photo que j'ai choisie, et qui était également exposée sous le patchwork était un escalier en colimaçon.
Je me rappelle que ma vie était un peu compliquée à cette époque et je crois que la surface agitée reflète bien ce tumulte.
J'aimais (et j'aime toujours!) particulièrement la bordure que j'ai faite en coupant des blocs restants et en les appliquant sur une nouvelle surface.

To make this quilt, I used Vliesofix (fusing material) and I secured the appliquéd pieces with a zigzag stitch. It was the first and only time that I used true zigzag in my quilts. I usually use a blanket stitch as shown in the examples below:
Pour réaliser ce quilt, j'ai utilisé du Vliesofix, (support thermocollant) puis j'ai fixé toutes les pièces appliquées avec un petit point zigzag. C'était la première et seule fois que j'ai utilisé un vrai zigzag dans mes quilts. En général j'utilise plutôt un point de feston comme dans les exemples ci-dessous:
